Fulham Breaking Hearts All Over Very Specific Parts of London

Posted on March 5, 2008

If you were getting attached to the idea of seeing Clint Dempsey and Brian McBride go head-to-head with top-level Premiership talent next year, you might want to start watching Friday Night Lights on DVD instead.

The 3-0 loss to Manchester United last week assured that the decay of the Cottagers towards the rottenness of relegation was complete.  To their credit Fulham showed life throughout the match, scrapping hard despite the fact that Wayne Rooney routinely drops more on mangoes than Fulham has spent on their entire back line.

Little reason remains to pay attention now, save to monitor the further growth of Clint Dempsey and Eddie Johnson, and to pray that whatever gangrenous mediocrity that lurks in the fabric of a Fulham jersey never manages to infect them.  Say hello to the Coca-Cola Championship, boys.  A very specific section of London weeps for the loss.
